Solar Rebates begin in January
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, the Initiative Petition that passed last November in Missouri,
Prop. C,
is close to being reality. The Missouri Public Service Commission has been working with stakeholders over the past months to make rules so it can be implemented. Missouri will now have a Renewable Portfolio Standard that requires investor owned utilities(KCP&L, Ameren and Empire) to source a certain percent of their energy from renewables. Included in that is a solar rebate of $2/watt (about 25% of the system cost). Coupled with the 30% federal tax credit and the declining price of solar panels - solar has never been more affordable - rebates start in January.
Platte County Green Build Program - Award Winner ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Platte County currently has 3 green build homes under construction. In addition, the Platte County Green Build Program has been selected to receive one of five 2009 Missouri Association of Counties Achievement Awards. The fact that the program was developed through a public process, i.e. our Platte County Green Build Committee, helped win this award. $20,000 is budgeted in FY2010 for Green Build rebates.
First Solar Array in Platte City
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first Solar PV array in Platte City (in recent memory) will be installed at 200 Branch Street - the Harding Chiropractic, Platte City Flower Building on Hwy. 92. Installation by
The Energy Savings Store
will begin Mid-November if all goes well. Feel free to come take a look!
EPA getting serious about Mountaintop Coal Mining
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
